Knog Lights & Accessories at 3 Peaks Cycles

Knog is an Australian cycling‑ and outdoor‑accessories company, founded in 2002 by designer Hugo Davidson and engineer Mal McKechnie in Melbourne. Right from the start, the founders set out with a goal to do something different — to break away from the ordinary and create accessories that combine clever design, bold style, and utility. Their original name idea even referenced “noggin” (slang for head), nodding toward helmet design — but the brand quickly expanded far beyond just headgear.

Rather than building full bicycles, Knog specialises in designing and manufacturing accessories and components that enhance cycling — especially lights, bells, locks, and gear for commuting, urban riding, touring, or outdoor adventures. One of their most iconic innovations was the silicone‑mounted bike light Frog, launched in 2008 — the world’s first silicone bike light, which did away with a rigid mount and let riders quickly attach or remove the light while adding a splash of personality through colour and shape. Beyond lighting, Knog also produces bells (like the award‑winning wrap‑around Oi bell), locks, alarms (including a security alarm and tracking system), headlamps, and other accessories for cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.

What marks Knog out is their commitment to merging functional engineering with creative, modern design — often turning mundane cycling add‑ons into objects of desire. Their products appeal especially to urban cyclists, commuters, and anyone who values practicality married with style. Over the decades, Knog has earned a reputation for being “unboring,” challenging traditional cycling accessory design and continuing to innovate — making equipment that feels fresh, purposeful, and fun rather than purely utilitarian.
