Hope Technology (often just “Hope”) is a British bicycle‑component manufacturer based in Barnoldswick, Lancashire. It was founded in 1989 by former aerospace engineers — Ian Weatherill and Simon Sharp — who grew dissatisfied with the quality of mountain‑bike brakes available at the time. Originally a subcontract‐machining business, they began designing their own disc‑brake systems for their bikes, and discovered a wider demand among cyclists for higher‑quality components.
